How is the best way to tighten wood chairs
The legs on two of my kitchen chairs are loose, my husband is out of town so I will have to tighten them myself. I don't have any clamps either, any suggestions?

If you want to do the job right, and you should, it requires a little effort. Not doing it right will result in the chairs getting loose again. If the chairs are the round type where each end of each piece goes into a hole in the other piece, the only way to fix them properly is to pull them out completely, remove the glue fragments, sand around the dowel end and inside the hole, re-apply proper wood glue, and apply firm pressure with clamps for 24 hours before using.

Adding screws or nails is only a temporary fix (actually VERY temporary) and will in fact end up ruining your chairs.

Good luck with it. You really only need to buy 2 clamps as you can fix 2 sides of the chair at one time and then fix the other 2 sides once the first 2 are dry. The clamps are not cheap but I think you'll find them handy once you do have them!

You can also try "chair doctor glue"

I do this professionally and agree with all the above. Another option is to buy one band clamp and use that.
