    Title transfer
If I sold a car to someone & he has not transferred the title in his name, what can I do to take my name off the title. Plus he moved & I don't know where he moved to.

All I know is with the title still in your name you can report your car stolen since the transaction was incomplete. Also if he wrecks or anything you and your insurance will be held responsible. You could contact your insurance and the police or the department of motorized vehicles and ask what you can do.

Make a report to your insurance company and the DMV. Get written acknowledgement from both.

When you sold it, you would have gotten a receipt showing who you sold it to, for how much and the date, it would have been signed by both you and the other person. *** often adding DL number or some other ID also.

With this you have no problem if things happen, since you have proof.

I know here in GA, I had a old truck I sold for cash, they never transferred the titile, I contacted everyone, but there was no way for me to transfer it, only notify them and they told me just to keep my receipt as proof.

I have known people with this problem and a receipt was not good enough.
They said that with them leaving the name on the title they were still accepting responsibility.
He has to call the DMV and ask about notarizing an affidavit or something until he can figure out how to get off the title.
