Blood sugar levels (or BSL's) are normally within the range of 3.5 - 6.5 mmol/L but can get up to levels of 8.0 mmol/L during pregnancy and still be normal. Within an hour of eating, the levels may move briefly above 8.0 mmol/L, before moving back to this level or below by 2 hours after eating.

Blood glucose levels need to become extremely high (about 15.0 mmol/L) before a woman will actually notice any physical signs of diabetes, or begin to feel unwell. Because gestational diabetes usually involves the blood sugar levels only being moderately high (for example between 8 - 12 mmol/L) this is often not high enough for her to be aware that she has gestational diabetes.

Blood sugar levels that frequently rise above 8 mmol/L during pregnancy are considered high enough to cause the possible health complications associated with gestational diabetes. This is why blood tests for diabetes are often recommended during pregnancy, usually at around 26 to 30 weeks.

Well my first post gives the same results just in a different measurement. Lab results give you the results in mmol/L, at home tests give you the results in mg/dL.

It all depends on what you ate really. If you were to comsume a 100g glucose drink, your results at 2 hours should be below 155, which it was.

    Here is a guideline...

    Fasting: 95
    1hr after glucose load: 180
    2hrs after glucose load: 155
    3hrs after glucose load: 140

Two or more of the values have to be over the "norm" in order to diagnose with gestational diabetes.
