Most weed trimmers have 2 fuel lines coming from the tank to the carb. Look for this, it sounds like the return line is missing. As for "Ryobi" brands I am not sure.

All The Other Answers Sound Good, But Some Of The Carbs Are Coming Out With A "cap" Much Like To Older Vacuum Line Caps.

The diaphragm is most likely ruptured under that cover. The carb needs to have a kit put in it.

Ironhorse, that is a possibility, but some of the carbs do not have kits available, you have to replace SOME of the carbs completely. It would just depend on which carb he has.

I have to concede to mowerman2468, He is correct. I also missed that the return line might be broken or missing, as well as a cap. Yes, it's unfortunate the some carbs are not rebuildable, only replaceable. So many things are just throwaway today, and shop rates prohibit rebuild times, or parts are just not available. I will investigate the anti-afterfire solenoid being disconnected, and a no run condition happening. Thanks mowerman2468 for the input. Keeps Us on our toes comparing experience and knowhowand, ultimately the customer.
