27 weeks and a lot of pressure
I'm 27 weeks today and having some dull back pain that comes and goes, also I'm am feeling a lot of pressure in the lower prtion of the stomach.
I had an ultrasound last week that showed my cervix had shortened and there was a higher chance of preterm labor, I'm scheduled to see the specialist Friday to determine it's size now and see if I need a cerclage put in.
I'm not feeling any contractions, just the pressure, low back pain and an increase in vaginal discharge.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Hun, call your doctor please, you may need to be assessed. Since this is your third (right?) baby if you are having contractions you may not feel them early on. Pressure can be an ominous sign if you have recently emptied your bladder. Are you staying off your feet?

Yeah I've been taking it easy, I just hate to bother them if it's nothing.
I was hoping to be able to wait till Friday when we see the specialist.
I haven't noticed any water but I have had a increase in vaginal discharge I feel wet all the time it seems.

Also it feels like something is poking at my cervix and causing it to have pressure.
    It isn't painful but noticeable

You will notice increased discharge the later you go into pregnancy, that can be normal, but rupture of membranes should be ruled out. Backaches, while can be normal, can also be a symptom of impending labor and should be assessed. Some women have back labor if the baby's head is positioned face forward rather than backward, therefore there are very few abdominal pains.

Crystal, I don't mean to sound nasty, but you are already a high risk pregnancy, your doctor won't be bothered if you call. NOT calling could carry serious complications if indeed there is a problem.

Please do. And check this. When you pee, can you stop and start the flow of urine? Or does it just continue to flow?

OK well I can stop it but it's uncomfortable the pressure seems to be subsiding a little (it comes and goes without notice) but my back feels like it really needs to be poped at the bottom, it's doesn't hurt so much just uncomfortable and irratating to say the least.
I called the answering service and I'm waiting ont the doc to call me back.

Okay, they will most likely want you to be assessed.

Look sweetie, you are in a rather high risk position. While I know quite a bit about labor and delivery and high risk, I have had 4 children, delivered 4 other children, and am in my maternal and pediatric rotation at school... I am on the other side of a keyboard and cannot do a proper assessment on you.

They need to put you on a monitor, see if you are contracting, check you for dilation, etc etc... This site should not be priority for you with this particular pregnancy, your doctor should be.

Friday may just be too late. If you are having complications you should either be at the doctor or at the hospital.

They would rather you bother them and deliver a healthy baby, than not to bother them and deliver premature at home where there is no NICU for baby.
