    When a man and a women get engaged, who takes the first step [to meet and greet], the males parents or the females?

    Nowadays it doesn't matter. However, your question suggests that you want to know a traditional answer. Welp, traditionally, the man's family first. Because the man's family is asking to join into the woman's family... hence "asking her hand in marriage" tradition.

    On the contrary (I like to argue both sides), depending on where you're from... some countries where marriages are arranged, the female's family offers the male's family a dowry (and other countries vise versa) for "taking the bride".

    This is why it's just easier to stay modern. You and your soon-to-be just invite both of your parents over and have a big ole shindig ;)
