    Dishwasher drain not working
We have a new house and after two years, the dishwasher drain seems to be failing. We thought it was our dishwasher pump, but a new dishwasher has the same problem. The drain doesn't work. The dishwasher flexible hose is connected to a 3/4" copper pipe inlet. When this connection is unhooked, water pours out of both pipes. When the dishwasher flexible hose is run to the sink, the dishwasher works fine, when connected to the 3/4" copper pipe, the dishwasher fails to complete a cycle and leaves water in the basin. Here is a schematic of how the plumbing looks behind the wall (I took a picture before drywall).

    My question.
Can I abandon this system that asks the dishwasher to pump water quite a distance and almost 5' up? The system that has a P trap with no way to clean it out?
I want to hook the dishwasher directly to the disposer, looping the hose as close to the top of the cabinet as possible.

    Thanks,
    Sc

In a word, Yes! This is how we hook up our new construction Dishwashers.
Loop the hose up, secure it with a pipe strap and don't forget to punch out the knock out plug located in the disposals inlet port. My question to you is why wasn't this hooked up like this in the first place? Good luck, Tom
