Garage door is larger than opening
I had a garage moved and the opening is now smaller than the door by two feet. My fault entirely. I want to know if I can still install the garage door and just have the extra inside the garage. Will there be a problem?

    Thanks!

It would look strange from the inside, but if it is flat like mine, it would still seal against the weather strips.

Yes, I bought a metal sided garage, it is 22 by 30, 12 foot tall. We took it apart and moved it with a crane. I hired a company to put it back together but they took the tin off and then took the front wall apart and then never came back. I really wish I had never started this project!!

    Thanks for the replies.

Yeah, been the one called in to fix those types many times.

Is the wall(front wall) the one with the door opening in it?

If so, that change wouldn't be all that difficult, moving posts and cutting the steel siding to accommodate the old door.

What about the headers? Would they have to be completely redone or could I scab the other part in?

Redid the entire front of the garage yesterday, re sided it today. I am dog tired... Now to get the doors up... Thankd to those that replied! You are right, I would have hated it every time I looked at it. Lots of work to redo it though. After the doors comes the electrical. Maybe next summer...

I was not dogging the people at church. I was dogging the average worker that is suppose to be a professional. If you hire me to do something and I tell you I will be there at 8a.m. I WILL be there at 7:45. I am amazed at the companies that we hired to do a job and they either didn't show or did a poor job. Our kitchen was a nightmare!! Counters took 3 weeks AFTER they were built, the tile guys scratched the counters and the painter left 3 times to do other stuff. We investigated and hired reputable companies but still had a very hard time living with the work ethic. I know that I am not in charge and I am manageing for the Lord, that is what gets me through this. Thanks for the replies!

Flying Blue Eagle was right on the mark! I had just gotten out of a cast for tennis elbow surgery and was trying to do all of this one armed. My friends and the people I tried to hire didn't show... I live on 7 acres that is owned by God and I just try to manage it for himthe best I can. Sometimes I get in the way of what God wants me to do...

When I rated his answer I put down that it was VERY helpful bust somehow the computer showed a gray mark instead of green. I am sorry... Your answer helped me decide what to do next... Probably the best one I received. I tried to go back and post the green mark but it would not let me re do it. Sorry and thanks for the reply.

Until you have 10 or more posts your ratings will show as gray, not to worry though, we get the jest of it.

I don't think we were trying to be harsh on your church member not showing up comment, just observing how ALL people make commitments then for some reason, decide to not show... HMMM, Guess that makes them human after all... just not the type I associate with professionally... lol

FBE is a great responder for these as well, read some of his past posts and see for yourself.. I sure have.. nice to find someone we can appreciate in this world.
