Is it true that we can not have her visit with us without the aunt or does that rule
My grandchild is currently in the process of having her aunt be named her guardian. She has not went to court yet and the guardianship has not been approved. I would like to pick up my grandchild for the weekend, but was told that she can not leave her aunt's custody or spend the night away from her for 6 months. Me and my husband had the baby for a year and a half and we were the ones who took her to the aunt, due to other obligations we had. Is it true that we can not have her visit with us without the aunt or does that rule only apply after she has been awarded guardianship? As grandparents, shouldn't we be able to take our granddaughter for one day? Thanks!

Who told you this? Its possible this is part of the guardianship application, but I doubt if its in any rule book. Unless the court is ordering it I don't know who is making these rules.

Her Aunt told me that she was told she would get in trouble, if she let us take the baby for an overnight stay.

Ask her why she will get in trouble and who told her that -

What Judy said. Its possible the court ordered it, but if it did she should be able to document that.

Not being familiar with the courts, your answer was very helpful. Thanks!

It gave me something to consider asking her about the rules of guardianship
