    does my teaset have value?
I do home health care and one of my elderly clients was cleaning out their house which is full of antiques and collectibles. They came across this teapot with 4 matching cups which looks old but they could not remember where it came from. I would like to know if it has any value but I'm not sure how to without a picture. Are there any resources where I could browse pictures or someone that could ask more specific questions about the teaset to give me an idea if it's worth anything? The couple gave it to me for my 2 small children to play with but before I give it to them I would like to know if it has any value.

    thanks,

Are you talking about glass, china, plastic or metal here? Is this tea set play size for children or of the size to be used by adults? Are there any markings in printing anywhere on them? It would help to know those things in order to give a better answer to you.

Also, a public library or bookstore might have a book or books available on collectibles such as this.

Thank you for your quick response. This teaset is ceramic, I believe and it has the word "Japan" written on the bottom and has some Japanese symbols, I'm guessing means "Japan" on all pieces. It is an adult sized set with the teapot and 4 cups. The cups are meant to cradle in your hand with no handles. Printed on all pieces in very vivid coloring are Japanese irises with gold accenting. The teapot has a bamboo handle and it is all in excellent condition. I went on eBay and did a search and there was one exactly like it but the seller didn't know anything about it. I'm not sure how to get you a picture of it but I hope these little details help.

    Thanks.

I believe this is the link to which he was referring. I don't know why it wasn't appearing on the bottom of this page. Normally, links to similar questions appear at the bottom of the pages of posts.

Since you are online right now, I would like to mention that I have a similar teaset to yours, except that mine does not a bamboo handle on the teapot itself.

No, I don't really. It was passed down through my family. I have never looked up the value. Even if it were not all that valuable monetarily, it still is priceless for me as an heirloom.

But, I can show you ways to find possible values to your set, if you would like?

Then, I hope that we are on here sometime together. I am usually on late at night. It would be good to try things out together in the searches.
