    Qualifying exemptions for garnishments
I need to find out if money from a pay check is exempt in the State of Florida if you are head of house hold and the two children that you help support are not yours, but you do share all expenses and living arrangement costs? Any answers?

    Hello darlene:

I don't think those are reasons enough to be exempt. Certainly, if everybody who had to support children were exempt, the credit card companies would go broke (which I wouldn't mind happening). But the world ISN'T the way I would like it to be.

In fact, the ONLY exemption is if the funds are Social Security.

There is an exemption form you can find online that will list the grounds for exemption, but I doubt if you qualify.
