    Doggy ears
My dog (mini doxie) of course has big ears... and I know its important to clean them... and keep water out of them. After getting him out of the bath... I noticed that the insides of his ears are really read... and almost looks like he has a rash of some sort in them... does anybody have any idea what it could be and what I should do for him?

That sounds to me like ear mites, one of the few things I would suggest treating on your own. Smell the ears first. If they have a strong odor, it is an ear infection meaning a trip to the vet. Otherwise, use a cotton ball or Q-tip to apply an oil to the red areas. Baby oil, mineral oil, cooking oil, anything to clog their pores and smother the mites to death.

Mommyof three, I brought in some stray kittens last year, that gave my bunch ear mites that turned into an ear infection for one of my dogs.I thought it was dry skin at first, so mine did gone on for a bit. Hopefully yours hasn't gone this far. But my dog's ears were scaly and red as well.

They are tiny little bugs. They just seem to be around, perhaps spread from other dogs.
