    Troublesome roommate
    How do I go about kicking out my roommate if she's not on the lease?

    Hello brite:

    You have to evict her according to your states landlord tenant laws. We have copies of NY at the top of the forum on a sticky note.

    If the roommate has been paying rent then they are a tenant. Changing the locks is the WORST thing you can do. You could be subject to substantial damages for an illegal eviction.

    Please follow the advice you received from excon, which is correct.
