    Vacation time frame
    Hi ,
    I have been working with this employee since jan of this year and I am planning to switch to another employer but I do have 3 weeks of vacation as per my employement agreement .My question is can I ask my HR to encash my vacation time ?(I have been with this company only for 11 months now).Appreciate your help.

    Why haven't you taken it though? Some employers, like mine, make you take it. If you don't make an attempt to take it, your loss. They might try to pull that card, or something similar to that.

    Do you earn or accrue vacation time as the year progresses or are you "given" the time at the beginning of your contract? Are you an employee or a contract worker? Typically if you accrue the time as an employee and then you separate employement it is cashed out when you leave and given in your last check, howeve if you are a contract employee that is given time off as a term of your contract and you simply don't take the time, then you have nothing to cash out as you haven't accrued anything to cash, you just haven't exercised a benefit available to you. Hope this respsone helps. A simple call to your HR should answer you question. You wouldn't even have to say who you are to ask that question.
