    Grand theft auto
My friend was arrested for grand theft auto. After reading about the charges that he will be getting if he is proven guilty I still don't understand. I know he didn't steal the car but he might have broken into it. Would that help him out at all during his court hearing?

How do you know, where you there, if so, that actually makes you part of the crime and you can be charged, if you "know" only because he told you, then that is not most likely is not valid for court.

But yes, in many states, merely breaking into the car ( if you actually enter the car) can be considered theft. It will depend on the exact wording of the law for your state
