    Why obese America
People always want to know why are Americans getting fat. When you can say that 60% of kids are overweight and kids under 5 are seeing 100 lbs don't you think there is more of a problem than simply over eating??

I have been trying to figure it out on my own for the past few years and I came to these conclusions as to SOME reasons.

    1. eating more junk food.
    2. eating more fast foods.
    3. eating more frozen and prepared canned and box foods.
    4. more preservatives and food enhancing chemicals

I have been reading some books and went to a seminar today and found out that that is the problem but there is more to it and until you make some changes NO diet will work.
They say that the things I mentioned above cause a hormone imbalance which causes your body to hold toxics and store fat and cause illnesses and diseases. (Also why so many Americans are on tons of prescription medicines).
So until you get the junk food out and follow a rule for the ingredients "If you can't read it don't eat it" you will always struggle with weight problems.

One really toxic ingredient is monosodium glutamate. It is a food enhancer to make you want to eat more. Remember the Lays commercial "Bet you can't eat just one"

Aspartame is another problem. The artificial sweetener actually causes you to gain weight and turns to formaldahyde in your system. They cause symptoms similar to MS and parkinson disease type symptoms.

Here are some sites that explain it all better

    monosodium-glutamate a neurotoxin?

    Welcome to Pompa Health Solutions

I have told many people what to do to have a better quality of life than to stay in their sickness and diseases and all they want to tell me is "Well I am getting old" and they would rather take the handful of drugs the doctor prescribes rather than try some things that could get them to where they might be able to get good enough health to wean off some of the drugs.

    My question?
Why don't people want to hear this?
Why do people enjoy staying in their illnesses so they have something to complain about?

    I don't understand that either!
Another problem with childhood obesity in America is the cutting of physical education programs from school. Teaching children healthy exercise routines is important, but apparently not as important as other important things like buying new signs and repaving parking lots at the school.

... or putting condoms on a cuke.

The exercise the seminar taught was a 10 minute thing you do every other day.

I don't know I think sex ed is important because my high school had no sex ed besides abstinence and then they had this horrible outbreak of pregnant teenage girls 'cause they were going to do it anyway and didn't know about contraception.

Oh I know exactly what you mean, I don't think kids in elementary school and junior high school need sex ed, what they need is parental supervision so they don't get involved in sex. In high school when the child gets more independence is the time to teach themt o protect themselves.

I think the whole lifestyle (not just Americans, but everywhere in the developed world) is making more obese kids.

Too much TV,games,PC time... rarely any activities except flicking the remote, a bathroom break or going to the fridge for more food,or dialling up and ordering in.Add to all this the hormone and junk food factor(mentioned by NOhelp4u), what we get are mentally and physically weak kids.
Things are technologically very easy and makes kids to be a bit more lazy than the previous generations and it will get more so as it advances further.

I am sure those families that at least spend time outdoors and work as a family unit, have meals together are more healthy.Unlike most families where the parents are overworked overstressed and working so hard to get enough income and unfortunately some kids see it as their due right to be paid for doing nothing.

It is sad really, the parents generation works their whole life to get where they are just so the kids can have a good life, but some kids do not appreciate what so many parents go through.

I am not generalising, there are those kids who are wonderfully independent and healthy and have a great outlook on life.

    EDIT:::
Another thing is that while the developed countries seem to be trying to find solutions to this problem, third world countries are right now getting into this lifestyle, because they think it is what people in developed, advanced countries are supposed to be doing.
Thinking that this is how it is supposed to be.Sad really,as I see my own community in the grip of this lifestyle change.

That is absolutely right. At the seminar I went to Dr. Pompa talked about how he went to the Chapota Tribe in Africa and you wouldn't believe how healthy the kids were because they lived off the food they hunted, meat, berries and nuts. Their skin glowed, their teeth sparkled and there were only two kids a little over weight. Dr. Pompa said imagine what are 'help' would do to them if we sent them our American food!

Mowerman- Yes, I agree, my parents taught me about sex when I was old enough to understand, but didn't discuss contraception and things like that with me until I was old enough to be out on my own where I was unsupervised and making decisions for myself, is what I was saying.

I think it's just that parents expect schools to do all the teaching and they can't talk to their own children about things and that's where the problems start, sadly.
