Silli, I have a lab puppy of a similar age and feed him 3 times daily on a specialised puppy food (Eukanuba) they give you specified ammounts for there weight etc and this should maintain your pup gets the best possible start. I am not sure but have heard that foods like pedigree are the Mcdonalds of the dog food world!

Labman will give you a more informed answer but sounds to me like you are feeding to little and the worng stuff.

For starters, there shouldn't be anything wrong with Pedigree. Except possibly the protein source, chicken-lamb-whatever, likely the ingredients are much the same. Like much else about dogs, there is a ton a garbage around about chow. The truth is most modern chows are formulated to have about the same nutrients and most dogs will do fine on them. The only problem is that large breed puppies to too well on puppy chow growing fast enough to stress their developing joints. Best solution to that is switching to an adult chow at 4 months. Twice a day is fine after 3 months, and you can cut back to one at 6 months.

Overweight is a problem too causing the same stress on joints as excessively fast growth. The pint a day may be about right. See LongLiveYourDog.com - Life Span Study - Rate Your Dog If you puppy is overweight, cut back a little.

There are a number of parasites that cause loose stools. I would get him into the vet as soon as you can and get it straightened out. If you just made a sudden change from what the breeder was feeding, that could cause it too. Have the vet confirm your judgment of his body condition.

I totally agree with labman! My dog had loose stool for around 10 days on and off and she had a parasite and worms
