    Property Tax
    I received the Property Tax Bill about 8000.00 in statement value of my home is now $530K and actually tax must be 1% or 5300, but there are many different additions to property tax. Why I need pay all that addiitions?

    A lot of times they add on other taxes if you live in a place where you access things such as sewers, city water pipes, etc. You could call the county and ask why the tax is so high though.

    Hello serg:

    In my town, people appeal their property tax assessment all the time. My ex wife used to run these hearings. She told me that if she liked the guy, she'd reduce his taxes.

    I'd certainly appeal your assessment, and then smile broadly at the hearing officer.

    Typically a locality will have many different taxing districts that are based on property taxes. School, town, county, fire dept, garbage collection, highway, library, sewer, etc. Sometimes these are listed separately on your tax bill, other times, they are all folded into one town tax.

    You NEED to pay what you are billed for, because they represent services that are available to you. You may not use the services (for example I didn't use my town swimming pools last year, but I still paid a $119 annual assessment for them.
