Negative Pregancy tests but its been over a month since my last period
My last normal period was on August 27. I usually have one every 22 days. SO I was expecting it on the 18th of September. That day came and passed with no period. On September 26 I had some pink discharge, the next two days I had brown discharge. I know the pink and brown are a symptom of pregnancy so I took a test and it was negative. Still no period a week after that so I took another pregnancy test, it was VERY light positive. So the day after that Oct. 4 I went to the doctor. He gave me a urine test that came out negative, but he said he could tell form examining me it was too early to tell and that he wanted to do a blood test. So I took the blood test, that also came out negative. Now it is October 19 and I still have not seen my period. Just this past week my nipples have become very very sore. I took another test when I woke up this morning, it was negative. I have also been having A lot of creamy white discharge. I never had this before, not this much anyway for sure. I know it isn't an infection because it doesn't have an odor or it doesn't itch. Plus if I would have had an infection I think the doctor would have said something. I've had some pregnancy symptoms like food cravings, the discharge, headaches (it use to be I only got migranes, but now it's just slight headaches that I never got before), and nausea sometimes not too often. I don't know if I should go back to the doctor or just wait longer. Any thoughts and opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Oh and I also stopped taking my anti depressants about a month ago, but I don't think that could effect your period. And I have never missed a period like this before, some people say stress, but I've gone through A lot of stressful situations never missing a period.. it always comes and makes me feel even worse! LOL.

Thank you all who actually read this whole thing and give me your advice!

I think it's unlikely that you are pregnant given the repeated negative tests. (Though I still wouldn't rule it out completely.) These tests are pretty sensitive. BUT something's changed. I think you should go to another ob-gyn and repeat your story. Make sure you impress upon him or her that you are normally regular, like clockwork. Also read about "secondary amenorrhea" at Wikipedia. <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amenorrhea> That's what you have, not having a period when you normally do. They list a lot of possible causes, many of which you can read about further by clicking on them. Don't leave it to the doctors to figure it out. Help them by reading up and trying to figure it out. The white discharge without odor could just be a mild yeast infection. It doesn't always itch or smell, as I understand it. But everything you've mentioned suggests some change in your hormones. Have you lost weight or started exercising a lot? Are you taking any other drugs besides the antidepressant?

This website says that some antidepressants can cause your period to stop. Amenorrhea Maybe that's what happened? I would Google your specific antidepressant and amenorrhea and see what you find. I'll check back here later today and see if you have any more thoughts or information. Good luck!

Light pink/brown discharge is not always a sign of pregnancy... it can be breakthrough bleeding due to an upcoming period... or like me, someone who suffers from irregular period... that like show of blood is considered a period for me.

I would do one of 2 things. Visit your doctor again and request another blood pregnancy test, if it is negative they will either advise you to wait until next month and see if you get your period, or they will prescribe you a medication like Prometrium that will "jump start" your period.
Or you can just simply wait until next month and see if your period comes. It is not uncommon to be late or miss a period altogether without being pregnant. Many life factors can mess up your cycle.

No I haven't lost weight or have been excercising at all. Actually I gained like 2 pounds (not much but you know still gained). I was taking these medicines Welbutrin XL, Lamictal, and Topamax. All of which I have kind of stopped taking... (I'm still suppose to be taking them, but haven't in a few a weeks). I had been taking these medications for a few years now.

I think I am going to wait a couple of weeks and see what happens.

Thanks for the advice. I'll look up the Amenorrehea

    Hi there
My name is Halley and I think that maybe you should go and visit your local GP or doctor/nurse. Maybe you need to look up and find out the typical symptoms of your ususal pregnancy. I don't know much about it but what I've heard is that if this is happened to and you are preganant you have basically two choices to either keep the baby or you can have a simple abortion. I am sorry I don't have too much advice for this but have you been takeing your usual pill that you are usually precripted with at the doctors if so then you should deffinately have a separate check up with the nurse OK..

What concerned me was not your symptoms, nor your lack of a period, as you already have some good advice. But was actually when you said:

I think I am going to wait a couple of weeks and see what happens.
If you are pregnant, and I can't say that you are or aren't, the first few weeks are when most of the major organs begin to develop, heart, lungs, brain, spinal cord, etc. This is the most important time to be taking care of yourself via folic acid supplements, eating healthy, prenatal care, etc.

I think it is time to go back to the doctor and request another blood test. If it is negative, your doctor needs to find out why and treat the underlying cause.

I looked up these drugs the other day and it looked like all of them can occasionally cause amenorrhea (the periods to stop). It looks like that's a rare side effect, but you were taking all three and maybe you just happen to be sensitive to this effect. If the drugs caused your periods to stop, it might take several months for your periods to start again.

But I am concerned that you are no longer taking the drugs. I understand why you would stop taking them if you think you might be pregnant. But if you need them to function, and not taking them is going to cause more trouble for you, sounds like you need to resolve what's going on soon. I wouldn't wait, but I think you should go back to a doctor. Find one you can really talk to and make sure you are not pregnant, then resume the medications you need to be on and also rule out any reasons for your period stopping besides the medications. You want to be sure you don't have anything serious.

Sorry we can't be more help and good luck.
