Tax Preparations for 2005 w- wrong SSN
I just noticed... this is ridiculous cause I really need these documents.. The year I filed taxes in 05 the SSN is incorrect. This was a mistake in part of the company I took the taxes to be filed. The copy they gave me had this number. I am upset cause I never noticed till now. This is the 2 time I use this company to file. The bigger upset is that they don't work during off season. I need the papers corrected so I am attempting to visit an IRS office locally although the IRS never sent me a letter stating the number was wrong? I looked on the IRS ridiculous and it states that it does contact people letting them know if there is someone using Fraudulent info. So why did the IRS accept my files anyway?

    What to do?

If it is a simple matter of transposed numbers (say "65" instead of "56"), you can contact the IRS, explain the problem and they should correct your file immediately.

If the number is completely different, then you will need to meet with the IRS at their local office and initiate procedures to fix the problem.
