What could cause my van to hesitate to go into drive, then make a loud clangy noise, until you reach a steady speed?

Hesitates into gear is possibly low fluid or worn seals internally.
Clanging noies? Hmm, a little harder to pinpoint that. Mounts? Cracked flywheel? Any number of things... Can yo ube more presice as to when the noise occures?

It make the noise as you start to accelerate after shifting into drive. It settles down after you reach a steady speed, but is still there, just not as loud.

Does the noise change with engine speed or does it stay with road speed?

It still makes the noise but not as bad after you get to between 2 and 3rd . Could it have something to do with the cv joint or similular?

Or a wheel bearing, but you need someone to listen live to really determine.
