Need to find out what Tenants rights are in Cuyahoga Falls Ohio.
  My fiancé and I are renting a house and have had problems with her since we have moved in. We have lived there 1 year and 2 months. We have told her about the mold in the bathroom that is on the ceiling for over a year now and she still has not fixed my bathroom, now I have a new born coming in November and worried about the danger of my child breathing that in. My landlord still feels its not a problem and she has never rented before and doesn't want to invest in the money to have it fixed. ALso isn't there a law that you have to make sure that every home you rent you have to have two exits to get out of the home? I have also told her about he front door not getting opened and she still refuses to fix that plus give me the key to the front door. What rights do I have as a tenant with these problems? Also when I first moved into the home she said that her and her boyfriend are taking care of the lawn that we don't have to do anything. But its not stated in my lease that either her or I are responsible for the landscaping or yard. So now she is making rake leaves and clean up after and her boyfriend from mowing the lawn while being 8 months pregnant. Can you she do this and do I have to obey to her? She also called me yesterday and spoke to me like a child and raised her voice at me and I not being able to get a word in edg wise. Telling me that she doesn't ask much out of me but that it wouldn't hurt for me to get the bags of grass and put them on the curb being 8 months pregnant. Then tells me she is doing me a favor by charging us 750 a month when it could be more when in turn she asking for that price in the paper when the house was for rent. So I think I need to my rights as a tenant and what actions I need to take place in either getting out or putting my money into escrow or possibly getting a lawyer? We also had another problem during the summer of this year of termites I had 30 some termites in my spare bedroom flying every where along with having carpenter ants. I called her three times and she wouldn't do anything about she told me to go buy ant traps and deal with it. Can you do that to a tenant? So I couldn't take it anymore they were getting in puppys air he was a shih tzu. What if my baby was on the floor and these ants termites and carpenter ants were all over and I didn't see them at first? Then what? I finally asked if I could have my step father come over and exterminate the house because of her not dealing with the situation and she refused at first but then when I told her it was free she took the idea and ran with it. Can she do that?
There is a lot more that this lady has done to us and we can't get out because we can't find any place that will take our price range our shihtzu.
Please tell me what rights I have as a tenant?
Can your landlord peep through your windows when she thinks your not home? I have witnesses to that. Can she acuse you of painting the walls when you never painted and how would she know? Can she be on your property as a renter when your not home?
    Please help me!!

First, it would help if you proof read your posts. Some of what you wrote her is unintelligible. Second, there is a sticky note at the top of this forum with links to the laws in various states. So you can look up Ohio laws.

You have a right to an inhabitable environment. An unfixed mold condition does not make for a habitable environment. As to the door issue, you would have to check the laws, but I doubt if 2 methods of entry/egress are required by law. As to peeping in windows and checking premises, this is usually specified in the lease. The landlord generally has the right to entry the premises with reasonable notice or in case of emergency.
As to yard work, she can't force you to do anything that is not in the lease.

But the real question here is what do you want to do about this. Do you want out of your lease? You can have a health inspector check the mold situation and issue a summons to the landlord to repair it. If she doesn't you can break the lease.

But if you think you can turn her into a better landlord, I would forget it. Your rights are basically, accept it or move out.

I'm sorry if you thought I was being rude, but I wasn't. You came here asking for help. The people here VOLUNTEER their time and expertise to provide that help. If we have to take extra time to reread a post to try and decipher what it says, that takes away OUR time. So what is really rude is to throw out a rambling, unclear question and expect us to try and figure out what it says.

And that's what I tried to do. Despite the somewhat incoherent nature of your post, I did try to understand what your problem was and I DID provide some applicable advice for you. Which brings me to your second rudeness. You presumed to send me an e-mail berating me. In that e-mail you accuse me of not answering your question, which was not true since I did attempt to. You also mentioned that its against the law; "when your tenant is home to be peeking through the windows". That definitely would be against the law. But that's not the question you asked. In your post you said; "Can your landlord peep through your windows when she thinks your not home?" So the assumption there was that you weren't home. Again, the rambling nature of your post did not help us help you.

I won't even go into detail about your inappropriate use of the comments feature.

My original answer was not trying to be rude, but to help YOU get help by making sure we can easily understand the problem. Instead of attacking someone eho was trying to help you should try to see whether they have a point.
