    Looking us in the eye
Our 9 week old doesn't look us in the eye for very long, but would rather look at an object on the wall or elsewhere. Could this be a problem?

Does he laugh and act attentive to his surroundings in general or does he look at the objects more with a blank stare?
Does he seem to recognize what he is looking at?
Will he follow an object like a cat follows a spool of yarn?
Does he seem to have a personality and interact with people, toys or anything in anyway?

A nine week old will not focus on much of anything for very long... their vision is not fully functional. Babies at this age can only see basic shapes and shadows and very few colors until they are 3 or 4 months old... at this stage your baby can only see things 6-12 inches away from their face and very little at that. Your baby will be most interested in objects that are black, white or red (strong contrast) and have geometric shapes or patterns. Don't worry, it is perfectly normal.

My husband and I have been married for 9 years. We have 3 children (my oldest is from a previous marriage). About 2 years ago, my husband and I started having major problems, most of which unfortunately stemmed from us using crystal meth. We have since gotten off the drugs, but the problems are...

Eye for an Eye? [ 5 Answers ]

This is really the flip side of Phil's GOTCHA thread... I am really very curious about this: When does someone being an a$$ make it so that you can be an a$$ too? I am not sure I can come up with even one plausible reason to make this work. It seems to me that an a$$ is an a$$ and that...
