Brown hair with highlights to dark brown
I want to dye my hair dark brown. My friend took cosmetology but she's out of practice. I have a medium brown color with light brown and blonde highlights right now. The roots are about 2 inches. I know that if she just uses dark brown dye the blonde highlights will be a muddy gross brown. She mentioned something called a filler for the highlights but she's never done it before. Any suggestions? Can you just use a filler on the highlighted parts or all over?

Hi, I am a cosmetologist and if you want a filler you need to put a red on the blonde hair only, I would rather see you get it done professionally! The thing with over the counter color is the peroxide, you don't know what level it is, And if you are going darker you don't need the peroxide, you just need to depisit the color! Or have your friend get you color at the supply house if she is still lic.

Well, we can get the stuff from Sally's Beauty Supply if her license is expired and it will just be more expensive than when she had her license so it won't be just hair color in a box. She's never messed up on my hair before, I've just never had highlights. But if I get a dark brown with some red in it would that work? I'd love to get it done professionally but I spent $200 on a cut and color last time and I can't do that right now

YES! A red brown would be perfect! The new color for this fall is a chocolate cherry, and it is beautiful! So maybe you can find something like that:) Good luck!
