We have lived in this house for 3yrs and about 2 yrs ago we started having problems. We have a septic number one. Once in a while the waher will back up if I do one load after another and don't let a few hours go in between. I just don't understand it. I have noticed that the last 2 times that we have had flodding rain that it has happeded. We rented a power snake last yr. and had no ploblems for almost 8 months. Hopefully you can direct me in some direction. Thanks jennifer

Before you can solve the problem you have to know what the problem is. If it is rain water filling up your lateral lines there is not a lot you can do except trench the runoff water away for the area where your lines are. If it is a stopped up line somewhere between your washing machine and your septic tank the you will have to use the electric snake again. If the spot where the stoppage is is on the outside of the house you might try to mark the exact spot by measuring the amount of cable you put in when it unstops. If you can find this spot and it is out side dig it up and try to determine what the problem is. It could be tree roots growing into the line or it could be a low spot in the line that is catching the solids out of the water. In that case you would dig up a few feet and level it out.
