Harbour breeze ceiling fan - light comes on hours after fan
We had a harbour breeze ceiling fan w/ light installed June 06 - it has run well w/out incident until just about three weeks ago. Now, after the fan has run for a few hours, sometimes as long as 7, the light will come on --- most disturbing in the middle of the night as it wakes us up. At first I thought it might be the cat hitting the remote, but that wasn't the case. Then I thought it might be the remote, and maybe it was a way to trigger me to change the battery, you know, instead of a loud beep.
Any thoughts on a fix or why this might be happening now, after so many months?
We have the same fan in family room, but this isn't happening there.
    Thank you

Your fan may be picking up Rf signals from some other source than your remote. Try removing the batteries from your remote and tell us if the problem continues. It is also possible thast your receiver is starting to fail. I think Ceilingfanrepair will need to step in on this question.

I changed the batteries and that didn't solve the problem - I don't know what an Rf signal is - this is happening at 2 & 3 in the morning. Will Ceilingfanrepair automatically answer?

I did not mean to change them, just remove them so we know your remote can't be the source of the signal. Ceilingfanrepair will pretty much catch all of these questions, never saw him pass one by yet. RF could come from and remote device IE.. TV, garage doors, other fan, pretty much any radio signal can trample on you by accident including some wireless telephones and baby monitors.

Thank you - I don't want to seem stupid, but I really don't know about these things. I'll try removing the remote and see if that solves the problem.

No apology needed and you did not sound stupid at all. Most people here are no smarter/dumber than the others, they just have had different experiences and training to call on.

What you need to do is change the frequency of the receiver and the remote. See:
