I am writing on behalf of my girlfriend. She is on birth control and takes her pill everyday. However, this month she told me that she has sometimes taken it between 1-3 hours after when she was supposed to. Her period is very very regular every month and her last period started on 16 September and went through 22 September. She ovulated on 30 September I believe. We had sex on the 29th and 30th of September. Yesterday (6 October), she told me that she had a small amount of blood on the TP when she finished in the bathroom. Not anything like a period and very very light. This would have been like 6 or 7 days after ovulation had occurred and 8 days before she is expected to get her period. Does anyone have any experience with implantation bleeding? From what I have been able to read, this is what it seems like it could be. She has been EXTREMLEY irritable for the past week as well as bad stomach pains and a bad headache. I know that every pregnancy is different but is there anything else that could explain what is happening with her right now? When would a home pregnancy test be accurate? The last time that she thought she was pregnant she went to planned parenthood and they did one test on her that was like $10. Would this be the same as a over the counter one from a store. Any help or insight that somebody could provide would be excellent. I am very nervous and yet very excited at the same time.

Implantation bleeding is very rare... think about it, an egg is microscopic!

I would assume it is just breakthrough bleeding due to her upcoming period. A HPT this early would not be accurate... and yes the ones at Planned Parenthood (urine tests) are the same as the ones at the store.

The only thing you can do is wait and see if she misses her period this month. If she does, take a HPT about a week after she was due to get her period. If it is negative and she still doesn't get her period, she could call her doctor and get a blood test to make sure.
