You really don't "ask" someone to be your girlfriend, you date, you go out, and you become boyfriend and girlfriend by just being it.

Well, first of all, get your terminology straight and properly aligned with your intentions for the relationship:
- An invitation to have sex is a proposition.
- An invitation to get married is a proposal.
- An invitation to be your girlfriend is grade-school playground romance.
So which is it?

Could you start by just being her friend? With no intentions beyond that until you two are comfortable with each other and have built up trust in each other?

What about this one:
An invitation to be my girlfriend for all eternity? You forgot this one and this is the invitation I want!

What a novel idea! D'ya think it'll catch on as a trend? I'm guessing not, because many of us want more turmoil in our emotional lives, not less.

I think you shoul be original as possible. One idea is to get tickets to a basketball game and ask them at half time to put it on the score board.

I think that is a bit extreme to just ask her to be his girlfriend...
My advice is to go shopping with her and compliment EVERYTHING she tries on... she'll fall head over heels.

And Basketball isn't very popular in Portugal :P
I thought in a walk in the seaside! In the middle of the date, ask her! What do you think? (She loves a walk in the seaside :D)

Do I talk about marriage? And by the way! There are many people married when they only have 18! But I'm not asking her to marry me...

Oh, so you changed the original question from what it used to be. Don't do that... ever - it screws up the thread completely.

My head hurts. Make it stop. What we have here is a failure to communicate. English is not your first language is it? There are so many nuances in language that what you think you said ain't what you said. Nuff said.

That's true! This isn't the point of the thread! Let's return to what matters...

Okay! From a woman's point of view. Personally I really dislike cutesy proposals for anything. I really like an honest straightforward declaration of your feelings toward me, and then I decide if that is what I want also. You can set the mood with a romantic setting. But rehearsing something is too contrived. So just ask.

Sure! But the reason that I didn't ask yet is that I'm afraid that she will answer "no"! Have known her for a long time! We are very good friends! And I'm afraid that if she's says no, I will lose a very good friend and maybe I will not deal with the answer very good...

The Master? If you are afraid she will answer 'NO" you are probably picking up on her attitude toward you. You Just have to gather your courage and ask.
You can tell her you value her friendship and hope it can be more.
It is not the end of the world to be declined. sometimes it is the best thing as you may realise later. You can't make someone like you, love you, or stay if they don't want to.
If she says "NO" Then wait for the girl who feels the same, and lets you know it. Work on yourself first.
