What do guys look for in a girl ?
What do guys look for in their girlfriends? Do they expect us to make all the planning and call them when we want to talk? Or should we just sit back and wait for them to make the plans and call us ?

I want somebody who will put as much into the relationship as I will. The scales should be balanced as such. Somebody who's up for trying new things, committed, doesn't have too much or any baggage, spontaneous, kind, funny, respects me, knows how to give space and perhaps has similar interests to me or is willing to try.
A relationship should be equal. A girl shouldn't have to do all the planning etc whatsoever!

I think I put more into the relationship than he does, and I think my problem is that I don't give him enough space. What do I do ?

You just answered your own question :)
A partner does not make your life, it should be complete without them. Try directing your energys elsewhere, such as in a new hobby or a passion. Join a gym, keep busy and improve yourself. You may find he looks up and starts paying a bit more attention.
Although its hard to step away from 'clingy' behaviour, its best to. Just think of the tug of war. The more you pull the more the other person pulls the other way. Eventually one will loose out and you could be that person.

It is so hard to get over being clingy, I am so used to being with him all the time. So lately when he wants more space, I do not really know how to react. Do you have any suggestions on getting away from being so clingy?

Try the suggestions I said as above! Clingyness is possibly from your own insecurities. Try googling the topic, see what you can find.
