Win. ME trying to connct w/ LAN
I may be too illiterate to perform this task. But, if anyone sees this as a simple question and can help I would be thankful. I have a windows me I just rebooted with the restart software. It is connected with a wireless G broadband router with 4 switches, and a cable surfboad. There is one PC running xp connected through a wireless card and one laptop. I ran the LAN setup wizard but in the end it shows no connection icon on the bottom right, nor does it register that my computer is connected through the ethernet port to anything. Is there anything simple I am missing? Thank you

    Greetings…

Go to the command prompt. Type “ipconfig” and press enter.

If your network interface is working, you should get something like this…

    Windows IP Configuration

    Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

    Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : hsd1.nh.comcast.net.
    IP Address.. . : 192.168.0.100
    Subnet Mask.. . : 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway.. . : 192.168.0.1

    If you get

    Windows IP Configuration

And nothing displayed after that, it is a sign that your networking is not configured. If this is the case, check to see if your network device is listed under the device manger in the control panel. If you do, check to see if it is not disabled or if the drivers are working properly. You may need to install the network driver for your Pc

Report back if you get an ip address or not.

    George.
