I pierced my bellybutton about a year ago because my mother wouldn't let me get it pierced. Pppllleeeaaassseee DO NOT DO IT. If you do it by yourself it hurts like hell and it WILL get infected no matter what you do. I got a staff infection and I was in the hospital for 3 weeks. It almost killed me. Pppllleeeaaassseee do not do it. It may not seem like it now but getting your belly button pierced is a BAD idea.

I think that one of the tips is if your doing it with a needle, safety pin, etc. you should always sterilize it by letting it sit in boiling hot water and then putting the needle or whatever through a lighter to make sure its more sterilized. I have pierced my belly button 4 times now. Well I'm doing the 4th time now so. But you that's about it. OH AND Don't FORGET when you clean it use antibacterial soap non scented.

Boiling and using a lighter is not the proper way to sterilze a needle. This needs to be done with an autoclave.

Giving advice like this can lead to someone getting an infection.

YEAH DUDE uhhhhh if you have any older friends that know like a tattooo or piercing shop really well, let them hook you up. Don't do it yourself, I have a close friend that did, and she has a permanent infection in her stomach now, and she can't have kids... no joke

    Nooo don't self peirce!

I advise you to get it done professionally.

They will peirce you without parents concent from the age of 14.

Peircing it yourself could lead to septicemia.(Blood poisning)

I know you're probably asking because your parents have probably said no and you aren't old enough to go get it done yourself. Its no big deal if you don't have it peirced. 1. if you do it yourself, you could mess up and it will look like crap. 2. infection infection infection 3. you don't realize that there is going to be pain. You may partly get a needle through then realize, "wow this really hurts" and not want to finish. Its just a big mess waiting to happen so don't do it lol.

I did mine many times when I was 12 and 13. Every time I was very careful to sterilize everything from the needle and hope to my navel. However, every time I did it, Id get an infection and do have a bit of scarring from it. My mom saw what I was doing and decided to get it done for me by a pro and Ive never had a problem with it since. Ive had mine for about 9 years now.
I would definitely not do it myself, but, if you do decide to regardless of all the people telling you not too, be sure you take it out ASAP at the first sign of infection and get something on it!

My fourteen year old daughter wanted to pierce her bellybutton so I took her a couple different places but they won't do it till she is 16.they wanted ID from both of us.the price of it is 58.00. Isn't that kind of high priced? I'm glad I came across this subject,I was thinking of doing it myself since I did her ears myself without a problem,I think this is more involved though.I will leave it to a pro.

Its not that high priced, belly button piercings can range from $45 - $60 dollars.

I would leave it to a professional if I were you. Ears and bellybutton are two different things, plus nothing you can do at home will sterilize a needle enough for piercing, and an unsterilized needle almost always leads to infection. :)

    So.
    I told y'all I pierced mine a while ago.
    Its still in.
    Not infected.
    Straight.
    And I did sterilize.
    And I do clean it.
    More just in the shower.
I have changed my bellybutton ring and everything.

    Just hurt like hell.
And my mom didn't really mind.
She just told me no more piercings till I'm eighteen.

Okay you people are nuts, piercings only really go wrong if you don't know what your doing or how to take care of it.
Yes, its not kindergarten simple but its also not hard. It doesn't take a brain sugeon to do it.
Hell yeah go for it, unless you already did. Just have a friend with you, clean it more than once a day try like 3, but not with alcohol, alcohol kills even the good bacteria that fights the bad bacteria so use peroxide. Twist it more than often, don't let it get crusty or let the bacteria build up but also make sure your hands are clean, or clean it afterwards. When piercing it, make sure you mark it correctly, and do it fast, don't stop in the middle of piercing it. Make sure the skin your grabbing to pierce doesn't have veins, you can normally feel them, and also make sure the skin isn't too think because then you culd be going way to deep. And if it bleeds, its okay, just clean it up, if its gushing blood then you didn't follow my advice.
