I might be a father and I'm still in college.
My girlfriend and I just discovered that we are pregnant. We're both 20 and still in college-- obviously this wasn't planned. We are spending the weekend apart so that we can think about this issue separately and then discuss it in full on Sunday or Monday. I'm excited and I want to keep it, but I'm afraid that I'm going to lose everything I've worked for in college so far. I'm worried about supplying a stable and good home for our baby-- something I won't be able to do with my current (minimum wage) job and going to class every day. I'm thinking pretty heavily about joining the US Airforce so that I can provide (or rather the government can) a comfortable and more or less stable life for the kid.

I don't know what to do. I'm just so confused.

First of all.. Congratulations.. This is a life long decision that the two of you are going to have to discuss whether out for dinner or a walk. Just think going to college is worth it in the long run but sometimes life throws us a curve ball that we weren't expecting. I am not sure if you thought about this because I am not sure how close you are with your parents but you should probably talk with them to see if they can help you out either with advice or down the road. The US Airforce not a bad idea but I would see what else you can do. Then you would be leaving her alone to raise the child and with the war going on you might be sent to Iraq, would you want that to happen, no. You would still have to go to class and try to provide for your family either way. I really think that you need to sit down and think about the Pros and Cons. Can you find a better job some place else and then go to college part-time, maybe nights a couple of classes? I think that you did the first thing though by taking a break and coming back to the reality of the situation.

Congrats, and of course it was planned, if you have unprotected sex, you plan on having a baby, ( it works that way you know).

First breathe, so you work a min wage job, and go to school and live hand to mouth with some govermnet assistance while you finish college, that is not the end of the world, 1000's of students do it every year.
It is just stressful and hard work. Next don't don't make any rash choices, while I think the military is great and the airforce even the best.
** Ex service man myself, Have you considered ROTC for college, they pay all your college costs, some extra money each month, and you work your min wage job it helps.
Are either of your families willing or able to help ?
