Hopefully you are accepting suggestions :p

Give them like a week. That way if they want to sit down and write something special for Halloween they have a chance. You could announce it on the 'Announcement' board and say it will start on xxx date, give them rules (if there are any), etc.

    Just a suggestion! :)

That's a good suggestion there. I will do that probably.
But I'm stuck on something. Someone mentioned if there would be any prizes or any type of recognition for the winner/s. What do you guys suggest??

The prize is in sharing it with everyone, and so is the recognition... and that would be time consuming and costly.
I think Nautical is right, this way it gives people to find out about it! GO COWBOYS!! HAve a great weekend everyone!
I think this will be so cool..

I agree. The prize should be the satisfaction of knowing your poem got ranked first out of so many poems. That should make anyone feel good about their writing.

Have a good weekend shattered! Go Cowboys!! :p

J-9 might have some pea-green t-shirts lying around. Those could be prizes.

Yeah I also agree recognition is a good prize... someone had mentioned prizes though so I thought if that's what they wanted then we'd have to think of something.
By the way, t-shirts don't sound bad.
