    Thermostat wireing
    I Need help installing a rth6300b thermostat I have 8 wires comeing out of the wall they are orange,brown,black,white,green,blue,yellow,and red own the back of the of the thermostat there is g , w , y , r , and rc can someone please help?:confused:

    We just bought a home when the outher people moved out they tore the thermostat completely off the wall no olny the 8 wires are hanging out I know it is a heat pump and outside it saya gibson on it

    Check the directions that came with your thermostat. If they don't say anything about using it with a heat pump, buy one that does.

    Note, check the real estate law forum. You may be able to pay somebody to replace the thermostat and send the bill to the seller.

    It still doesn't sound like your model will work with a heat pump.

    You have the wrong thermostat, get one for a heat pump with two stage heat.
