    Weird lump
My daughter just turned a year on the 10th of this month, and so she recently had a couple of vaccines, I can't remember both of them, but one of them was the chicken pox vaccine. Anyway, to get to the point, within the past week, right above where they did one of the vaccines, there is a small, red, hard, lump. It almost seems like a pimple, but it just feels to hard, and she has never had baby acne of any kind. I do plan on taking her to the doctor for it, but I was just wondering if any one out there may have some, or know where I can find out more about what it could be. Any help would be appreciated.

If she got the varicella zoster vaccine (chicken pox) there is a chance of her having a very mild rash at the site of the vaccine. This is actually because the vaccine is an attenuated version of the virus. It is live, but most of the toxcisity has been removed.

She just may have a very mild case of chickenpox, but it is best to have it checked out by your doctor.

Its very common to get a lump after any kind of vaccine, it shows the body is reacting to the vaccine in the correct way, as long as baby is OK in her self then just go to gp at the next appointment. The lump shows that the body is reacting in the correct manner. I do understand it can be frightening, been there and done it 3 times. If any concerns watch baby's temperature and general condition.
