No hot water to new unused shower stall
I own a Ryan Home in Virginia. This is a new construction townhouse. There is a shower stall in the basement, and when you attempt to turn on the single clear plastic Moen knob to operate the shower, the cold water comes out just fine, and then you turn the knob all the way to "H" and the cold water seems to shut off and water just barely sputters out when the knob is turned to hot. I was told to remove the cap on the clear plastic knob and unscrew it, remove the white plastic mechanism (scald guard) and try it again. This had no affect. Any suggestions? Unfortunately this shower had never been used in the three and a half years we have lived here, and now the contractor has no obligation to come out and fix this. Please advise! Thanks so much.

Shut down your main and remove the handle and the bezel. You should see several brass screws holding a circular plate that attaches the cartridge. Remove the plat and pull the cartridge. There is some debris caugh in the cartridge, likely right at the inlet. Inspect and operate the valve, flush backwards direction.
