Hi,

I was redoing all the drain piping under my sink during a remodle. It appears everything is sealed nice and tight except for the connection to my drain pipe.

It's a plastic drain pipe coming our horizontally from the wall with a threaded end.

I purchased a new P-trap and put it in. the alignment looks fine, but I still get a very slow leak when running the water for over a minute.

The drain pipe covers the drainside of the P-trap almost completely to the bend. I also noticed there is a logo imprinted on the PVC right under where I'm trying to create the joint to the drain pipe. Lastly, I did not cut the drain side of the P-trap at all, so it extends some 8 or so inches into the drain pipe.

I guess I'm looking for advice on:

1. Do I need to sand down the logo or something or is this usually not an issue? I have 100 and 400, was thikning about using 100 first to grind the logo out and smooth it with the 400.

2. Do you think teflon tape or dope on the threads help? (not even sure if should do this for a slipjoint)

3. Does the length long P-trap drain pipe inside of the actual drain pipe a possible issue? (both are straight so it's not hitting a bend or anything that might put pressure on it).

4. Any other suggestions or things to check?

Make sure the slip joint washer has the flat side against the nut, if that does not work, put a dab of putty under the slip joint nut between the nut and the washer.

Thanks will try that. Sounds much simpler than what I was planning.
