    Urinary Tract Infection
What's the problem if you can't get rid of a urinary tract infection. I've taken antibiotics 3 times. What's going on with me? Am I dying?

If its truly only a UTI, I'm sure you're not dying. You've had antibiotics so I assume you've seen a doctor. What have they said about this?

Drink lots of clear fluids (especially water and cranberry juice) and empty your bladder as often as nature calls.

Ask for a second opinion. I doubt very much that you are dying. I had this problem and solved it by eliminating sodas and coffee from my diet. Drink a lot of water and eat a diet rich in veggies. Try taking echinacea herb capsules. They really really work. (ask you doc to make sure they are OK for you first). Are you on any meds that could be causing this? Cranberry juice helps, but remember, anytime you eat sugar, your immune system is temporarily weakened. (at least that's what my doc says) You could also try buying some cranberries and eating them. They can be hard to find so I usually buy frozen ones. If you can get past the sour taste, they may help.

You are not dying, don't worry about that. But what is most likely happening is that the antibiotics your doctor has given you are not right for that particular bacteria that is causing the UTI.

You need what is called a C&S (culture and sensitivity). This will find out what kind of bacteria is causing the UTI as well as tell the doctor what antibiotics will work, and those that won't.

Are you sexually active? This could be a form of cystitis caused by sex. Happens a lot in newlywed women.

As the others have said, cut out carbonated drinks and caffeine, drink lots of water and cranberry juice. If they have Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice where you live, this is the preferred brand.
