    Good dad bad mom
I have had residentail custody of my daughter since the court awarded her to me at the ae of 4 months when her mother tested positive for PCP. I live in Illinois and the mother lives in New Jersey. Now 5 months later the lother is trying to fight for custody. She continues to make bad decisions. For instance the day the court awarded her temporary custody until our next court date October 16th 2007, the day my daughter was set to fly to N.J. the pediatrician advised the mother to not let the child fly for 2 days due to a bilateral ear infections. The mother refused to take the medical advice and still took my child. Also my daughter was brought to a mans home that her mother just started seeing and was kept there over night while her mother and haim had romanitc encounters, I know this for a fact because she called to tell me. I need to prove her an unfit mother because my daughter will have ethe better life with me here in Illinois.

U will need a lawyer and you need to file in court for full custody. Remember the administration for children should be your best friend.. good luck

Not only do you need a lawyer, but you need to contact the local children's services agency and document everything.

I don't understand how she got temp custody in the first place. If you were awarded custody because of a drug problem she should have had to prove she was clean before regaining custody even temporarily. 5 months would not be enough time. So something else may be going on here.

Not necessarily Scott, My biological egg donor tested positive for Meth and DHS and the courts still allowed her another chance at custody of three children after only three months, my dad went through the mess for almost 6 years! The system is very far from perfect!!

As for everything else, it all need to be documented!! Stability is a big thing and if she's sleeping over some strange man's house then that is not in the best interest of the child, get your local social services involved if you have to, fight like crazy that's really all you can do, it's time and financially consuming but I will pray that you can do it, there should be more people like you out there! Best of luck!

You say you got custody when the child was 5 months old and then 4 months later she got temp back but the child is calling you telling you about mom's trysts? I don't think a 9 month old can do that although, maybe you had a typo and meant 5 years old and 4 years later?? IDK.

There is something very wrong with that. There is no way that she could have gotten clean that fast. And unfortunately courts are more sympathetic to the mothers. What's more, What you described could be construed as an unfit parent. I know this because one of my friends is in a similar situation, and one of coworkers is a child and youth services worker.
