:confused: Well, I am 14 years old and I haven't gotten my period yet. I have been having dull low abdominal cramps/pain all day. Today I found there was a very light, sticky, brown discharge in my underwear. So I put a pantiliner on just in case. About an hour later I went to the toilet again to check, and fair enough there was again a small stain of brown on the panitliner.

But not that long ago I had a bath. And afterwards, about an hour after. I checked if there was any 'brown discharge' and there wasn't, and there hasn't been any since.

Was that my period? It only went for 5 hours and was very light.

I've never gotten my period before.

It could very well be the start of your first period. The brown spotting isn't unusual... give it some time and see what happens. :)

Hi Tori,

As a Mom of a 13 year old girl who just got her first period last year, I have to say that this was the beginning of your first period. This "spotting" can go on for a few days before the full blown period starts. Just make sure you carry some pads in your purse in case it starts while you are at school.

Have you told your Mom about this yet? If not, you might want to do that today. If she's anything like me, she will be very excited for you and pamper you for a few days.

Oh thank you for your answer, but is it normal for it to be so light that is doesn't even show on the toilet paper? (Sorry very graphic).

Umm I haven't told my mom yet, because I am recently in Australia, and it is rather late here and she is asleep!
I also have to ad, that I had a bath a little while ago and now, there's no discharge at all. Could you explain that?

Yes, sweetie, it is normal for it to be so light when you are just starting. It may be heavier in the morning, or you may not even see it for a few days yet. Tell your Mom in the morning.

Okay, about the bath, being in water tends to stop our period while we are in it. I don't know exactly how that works yet (I'll learn it this semester in college though). My daughter is on a swim team and when she is on her period (she doesn't wear tampons, I won't let her, LOL, long story), she quickly puts on her suit and jumps in the water. She stays in the water till swim team is over then runs quickly to the bathroom to change.

So, long story short, water tends to stop our periods temporarily.

Okay so I had the same thing!! And I had it for like five days (dark brownish stuff) and I haven't had it in like two weeks now. What that my period?? HELPP

Probably not... usually you just have random small amounts of discharge before you get the whole "fiesta party surprise" Good luck.. your "gift" could come anywhere from a week from now to 6 months. But Good Luck I've been studying all month for this because I have a feeling I will start pretty soon so take my advice I've read this from several other websites! Hope this helps! :^D

Same is happening to me,I am 14 coming 15 in couple of months and I am just too confused. I have been getting this brown discharge for 2 days now, and if you really look at it its kind of really dark red mixed with brown, something like that anyway. I was getting cramps like a week ago, for a day or two. But my back has been recently very sore. I have told my mom about this and she said you might be having your period. But I don't know if it is my period, or there is something wrong with me please be positive. Thank you so much

Hey guys, the same thing is happening to me. Well, sort of. I'm 13 and I had pink discharge for like a day. Then light light brown discharge. It doesn't look like blood or even dry blood. I have cramps for the past day and a half. And I have no idea what going on. I told my mom. She said it was probably the start of my first period.

It's the same with me ! I'm a 14 year old girl, almost 15 ! I had it for like two days.. now it seems to be gone :S I haven't had none of the cramps butt I've been so moodey ! Me and my mum aren't close... so I can't talk to her about it... what's going onn!? <3

Hmm well I have just turned 14 and over christmas I got very light brown discharge for a day or two then it just went and nothing has happened since it is now march and I would just like to know if that was actually my period because it was such a long time ago I am also very flat :(

I'm 12 and I have had brown discharge for about 5-6 months and on febraury 8 2011 I started seeing spots of blood in my underwear what does this mean? And by the way I have not yet started my period *** reply oh and ill be 13 in July and my mom had her period at 14 but she did not see any signs of her period until 14 which is around the same time she started her period so will I started before her or like around now?

I am having a similar problem to most of you...
I'm 14, and haven't started my period, I have LOTS of symptoms, I have had dull stomach pains recently, been pretty emotional, and as all teenagers are, very moody :D I have also had white discharge for OVER a year now. And I woke up this morning, (sorry for the details) and I needed the toilet, but I also felt a bit weird on top of that, and then I saw in my knickers a brown patch, and freaked out not knowing what it was, it was kind of mid-darkish brown, BUT I haven't had any discharge or anything like that for the rest of the day. Please helpp??
Anything is appreciated :)
p.s. I don't think it's an infection, because it doesn't smell, and I'm not itchy or anything...

I had really bad cramp and lower back ache about 2-3 days ago, I went home to find brownish stuff in my kncikers, I'm not sure if its my period or not and I'm too embarresed to talk to my mom.. please help! I'm 12 and my boobs are 34b, and I've already started puberty, so I've been expecting a period for a while now-until recently the discharge has been white/clear and now its reddish brown. Have I started?

I haven't had cramps or anything it just came out of know where and it comes MORE when I get out the shower.

Hi Uhm could you help me with this: Im 12 and I started my "period" on July 9 and it ended on the 13th... but through out the "period" the so called "blood" was all brown and gooey and I just started again on the first of August (this month). And its STILL BROWN is that normal? Please help me Thanks.

Same don't be scared I am 12 years old and haven't started my period but reading from all of you I think it might start soon as I am dealing with the same thing a dark brown substance left in my panties acompanied by a "period pain" ouch I feel for us girls it was horrible and thank you all so much its good to know there are people dealing with the same thing as me lol
