    How can I find my 'zip code' I thought it was only a US thing

    Most countries have some sort of postal code. I think only the US calls it a Zip code. If you are in the US, go to usps.com.

    Yep, just check your incoming mail and you will see your postal code, same as zip code. Different terms in different countries.

    ZIP = Zone Improvement Code that was implemented in the 70's (I think) in the US.
