    My Kitten is underweight
My kitten Kiko is going to be 5 months on the 4th of September. I have been battling ear mites with her since day one and have since tried 2 other types of medicine for them; Mitaclear, and tresaderm. I recently went to my vet and got andvatage Multi, because they have stopped responding to the other two meds. My vet said Kiko had to weigh at least five pounds before I could apply the medication. When I weighed her she only weighed 3.3 lbs and the vet said it may be because she is hyperactive. She said to give her wet food high in fat content as well as her normal Purina Kitten Chow. She eats a lot and drinks a lot of water. I'm wondering if it isn't something else. Does anyone have any insight on this?

I'm guessing, try to nurse your kitten on "KMR" (Kitten milk replacement) by Esilbac, or you can try goats milk. Also, there is a weight gain paste in a tube that is nasty, but good for the job. I don't know the name off hand. I know that the reptile version is called Jumpstart. Nurse the kitten twice daily, and if it can eat canned food, let it do so without any other cats present. This will eliminate the competition factor for food.

Hopefully this will give it a chance to get going!
Oh I forgot. There is a spray for reptiles, that kills mites on contact. It is made of 100% organic ingredients. So it couldn't harm your kitten. It's called reptile relief. You can check out their website at: Natural Chemistry, Inc - Home Page

Hope this is of help to you!

I've had cat's that were very thin until I had them fixed. Most of these cats were the smallest of the litter, and had a small frame.A cat usually will fill out after being spayed so this may be something you should consider soon. She may go into heat soon, and it will drive you crazy after a few days of her howling and rolling around you constantly.Let us know how she is doing.:)

UPDATE: Kiko seems to be doing better. She is less skinny and although I have not weighed her lately I believe she has gained some weight. I have been unable to battle the earmites lately as I have been focused on making her gain weight. The wet food has helped, but if it hasn't caused her to gain the right amount of weight I plan on trying the kitten version of wet food as my vet told me it has a little bit more fat content. Thanks to all who have supplied ideas I appreciate it and plan to keep you updated.:)
