Hi,

I am so glad I found this site...

My daughter went through a stage were she dyed her hair (ruby) red, she then added some kind of red dye (cherry bomb) that made it glow under black-lights. Well it appears she's through that stage and now wants her hair back to her natural med/dark blond. I went to the hair stylist and she told me that she will have to strip it at least 2 times (because red really sticks in the shaft?) and then add color-of course we are looking at about $400.00. I really think this will ruin her hair (not to mention the cost). Before she/I proceeds I would like to know if this is the right way to go. Her girlfriend told her she can just buy some stuff (from Sally's) that will bleach her hair out and then she can recolor it.

Because of the cost, we will probably have to do this at home so I was wondering if anyone
Could give me some pointers on what to do and what to avoid.

In order to go from red to dark to blonde shade, you will need to lighten your hair and then deposit the desired color. Hair bleaching should be left to the professionals because it's a tricky processs. I know hair salons can be expensive. You can take your daughter to a beauty school. It's a lot cheaper than the salons.
