    Song copyrights
Okay, I'm sure this question has been asked a million times, but how does one obtain a copyright for a song? My girlfriend is a really great singer/songwriter whom is a little cautious about posting her material online for fears that someone will snatch her hard work and claim it for their own.

Is there anyone who can tell me the best (and possibly least expensive) way to go about obtaining a copyright for her material?

    Thanks in advance!

I have a customer that does the "poor mans" copywriting. He prints out the composition and mails it to himself by certified mail. DON'T OPEN IT! The date on the official mail acts as a copyright date.

All works have a copyright implied on them when produced. It is being able to prove it in case of plagerism where the date comes in useful.
