Cig smell through dryer vent in apartment
I've just moved into a tri-plex. There is a unit below me and another unit to the side of the one below me. The latter has a smoker living there. Smoke smell is coming into my laundry room through the dryer vent. The landlord said once we got a dryer in, it would be OK. WRONG. Running the dryer makes it worse. This neighbor MUST be smoking inside his unit, but I haven't asked him yet. I think what is happening is that somewhere in the building, our dryer vents merge, so the smell is rising into our upstairs unit. Besides talking to this guy about not smoking inside his house, I'm wondering what could be going on with the vent lines that could fix this. Is this going to require some construction? Is there some kind of flap we can put in our vent or vent-hose to keep the smell from rising into our unit?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Is your apt have central heat and air / and is yours separate or all apts. Or on one system?IF one system , you could be getting the smell All your dryer vents have flappers in them to keep out inescts out and orders out ( back flow) !:"
