Besides your own country, which is your favorite?
Besides your own country, which is your favorite? Where would you like to travel, live, or go to learn about a certain culture? Feel free to name more than one country that interests you. Also, please give some reasons.

Everywhere. I want to see it all, learn it all. There's a book, "1,000 Places to See Before You Die" and I'd do almost any of them if given the chance.

I have been to Poland (three times), Slovakia, Czech, Austria, Canada and Mexico. Each country really has its own natural beauty, wonderful, friendly people and historical treasures.

However the driving trip I took from Mexico City south to Tasco in the mountains in central Mexico was devastatingly beautiful and unique.

I really cannot pick just one country I loved them all. My wife and I are leaving again for Poland in about two weeks. This time we are planning to see Greece and Italy; love the history!

    Gallivant F,
You beat me to this question, I was thinking of asking the same thing-

When I was quite small, our friends used to play this game, "if you had all the money in the world, what would you do?"
    My answer always was-
A house with an attic and the attic full of books, then save some money, the rest of it I would spend travelling the world.
The first ones on my list then was Greece,a historical place.
I love places with history and natural surroundings.

As I grew up my priorities have changed a lot and the one place I would like to visit would be Mecca, for a Hajj.

Other than that I would like to visit natural sites, especially where natural phenomenons of past can be seen.
I would like to visit a place with snow, somewhere I can feel the autumn breeze.I have seen waterfalls, but I would like to see some more falls.
Maybe a rainforest (but I do not think I could stay too long, mosquitos have a fatal attraction to me:eek: )
I would like to walk through an English garden, full of arches and blooming flowers.
A japanese garden with small water fountains and goldfish ponds.
I would like to visit a geyser or a hotspring.I would like to see the Grand Canyon.
I would love to revisit the Indian city of "Ooty" specially in winter and maybe visit Kashmir.
    And...

    I do think I am rambling... :)

Firmbeliever and Nicespringgirl- Japanese gardens are definitely one of the best things you can have. If I had a Japanese styled house, I would have one for sure. In western styled house, they would look a little out of place though. Then, you would want an English one. My family and I were recently checking out this house we wanted to move into, and it had an English secret garden. It was surrounded by vines and bushes and placed in such a way that I didn't even notice it. It had to be pointed out to me later, and I was checking out the yard for a LONG time. The English used to, retreat to their secret gardens to relax with a cup of tea or a cigar and basically escape from the outside world. I think it would be cool to have one of those.

    GallivantF,
Are you moving into this house?
I think I would love a secret garden, though I have never seen one in real life, only through books.

    Nicepringgirl,
Do show us a pic when you are done... :)
