Our water pipes have come alive! When any faucet is on in the house, there is a lot of noise coming between the tank and the inlet pipe to the house. It's almost as though it's "kicking back" water or something. When a faucet is on, the pressure does not change. It remains at about 40.

I changed the pressure regulator and have bought a new pressure gauge to put in, but I don't think that will help. Can you?

Pump or city water system? Please explain "kickback". Does the water pulsate? Stop and then start? Chatter? Spit at you? What?
What tank are you referring to? Pressure tank,( bladder tank or galvanized pressure) for a pump or expansion tank for a water heater?
I need more details before I can answer. Regards, Tom

Tom. Thanks for responding quickly.

We are on our own well. The kickback seems like it's coming from the area of pipes that come into the house and into the tank. I don't know how else to describe it. Also, the water pressure when turned on will get stronger, then softer (but normal), then after a minute of running the same occurs.

We checked the air pressure on the valve on the tank, and water spewed out. Could this have something to do with the "bladder". I don't even know if we have a bladder type tank. The house is only 5 years old. Would this be a normal lifespan of the tank?

This would indicate that the membrane/bladder has ruptured and the tank should be replaced. This is as simple as unscrewing the old one and installing the new one. Good luck, Tom
