OPT+H1 in the Year 2007 - State Texas
    Hi,

    I am an Indian Student.

I will be having two statuses in this year.

January 2007 to October 2007 - OPT (Working full time in TX - Annual Salary Appx. 70,000)
October 2007 to Decmber 2007 - H-1B (Working full time in TX - Annual Salary Appx. 70,000)

    OPT period 18th Dec 2006 to 17th Dec 2007.

I Graduated before I joined so, didn't pay any fees to School.

Can you please let me know whether I will get any return as I used to get before OPT?

Which forms to be filled and Which section needs inputs so that I can claim the tax back?

    Waiting for the answer.

    Regards

If you are single, you will file as a non-resident alien ONE LAST TIME, probably filing Form 1040NR in order to claim moving expenses and Form 8843 with the return.

If you are married, you have the OPTION of filing as a resident alien, filing Form 1040 (again, to claim moving expenses).

No, just claim the expenses on Form 3903. I the IRS challenges them, then you can privde copies.

You can download Form 8843 from Internal Revenue Service.
