If you live oputside of the U.S. there are forms you can fill out at the border to request a refund of sales taxes from the state in which you purchased the equipment. You need to contact the state tax department via the state government website to find out which forms to fill out. You can likely download the forms from the website.

As for income taxes, which taxc return to file depends on your visa status and how long you were in the U.S. Provde me that information and I can give you more specific guidance.

You should be liable for NO federal income taxes at all, as you were in the U.S. for less than 183 days.

You probably ARE subject to state income taxes for any income earned, but the amount is so small that you will likely get all withheld taxes back.

If federal and state income taxes were withheld, you need to file federal and state tax returns to get the withheld taxes back.
