    Can someone clarify?
Washing the hands, face, rinsing the nose, rinsing the mouth, washing the feet and wiping the ears with water...

What would these actions done on a regular daily basis be doing to a person's body, healthwise or otherwise?

I know it might sound a bit dumb, but I just need to know in order to clarify something to someone else.

    Thanks all.:)

Well I think it would reduce the spread of common viruses like the cold as washing hands can really reduce it's transmission. Prevention of the Common Cold: Reducing the Risk of Spreading Colds

The only negative I can think of is if the areas were not dried thoughly enough afterward. This could cause dry skin.

So I think it would make you cleaner :)

    Thanks..
I thought it would, but does anything happen under the skin or to the nerves because of this?

I have never read anything scientific about this. The skin is a waterproof layer, it is designed to be tough and protective. If it is only water then I can see no problem, perhaps if the water contained a disinfectant or another chemical it could cause contact dermatitis but the five times a day kind of gives away the fact it shouldn't.

It is only water and sometimes brushing of the teeth with Siwak if possible( a recommended practice too).

I was hoping that washing helps cool down the body or something like that as I needed to explain this 5 times (at least) daily ritual of the muslims (as you guessed), to someone who is non muslim.
I know it is part of faith and belief, but as I have found out that almost all Islamic rituals have something to do with cleanliness and health of the mind and body, but as I needed something more to explain the ritual...

    Thanks Templelane:)
